We are very proud to finally be able to announce the next show in Dallas, Texas! organized by the Lonestar Military Miniature Society in partnership with ANDREA MINIATURES!
The second annual Lone Star Figure Show will be held at the Renaissance Hotel March 14th-16th, 2013.
The first show was a huge success, and we hope to build on last years show to create an even better show this year.
Following the same format of the first show, we will once again offer workshops to encourage growth and comeraderie within our hobby. Last years workshops were a smashing hit, everyone enjoyed themselves and learned a few new tricks in the process.
We have the great fortune of once again having Mr. Julio Cabos (Andrea Miniatures Master Painter) attending the show and hosting another 2 day workshop where he shares his tried and tested figure painting techniques. Not only is Julio a great guy, but he is also an excellent teacher.
The second workshop is a one day event, led by Mr. John Long, who is very well known for his superb groundwork. John will be sharing his techniques on various forms of groundwork where each participant will create his or her very own base. We tend to put a lot of effort into each figure that we sculpt/paint, so much so that sometimes we forget about the groundwork. This is a great opportunity to learn from one of the groundwork masters of our hobby today.
And a new event for the 2013 Lone Star Figure Show is a small, intimate painting class with no other then Mr. Doug Cohen. Doug will offer a very limited capacity painting class on Friday the 15th of March. The class will be a one day event with a maximum number of 6 participants where each participant will recive a lot of one on one instruction while painting a 75mm face. The key to the workshop is a very focused effort on how to paint a face in miniature.
And last, but certainly not least, we are proud to announce that John Rosengrant will be conducting a seminar for us all to enjoy. As some of you may know, John works with special effects in the movie industry. John has worked on many epic movies such as Avatar, the Terminator Series, Iron Man, and he was nominated for an academy award for his work in the movie Real Steal, to name a few of his accolades. In short, John has a real interesting view on how our passion for modeling can be used in the magic world of movie making.
